Viola Moriarty:
Viola Moriarty is a visual artist and poet, specializing in
the expression of human and geographic landscape through oils, pastels and
print.
Ms. Moriarty’s service in education, particularly her work with immigrant families, along with her travels around the world, has notably influenced her artwork.
Born and raised in Colorado, Ms. Moriarty has now been a resident of New England for six years. She has also lived in Guanajuato, Mexico. She thrives on a little altitude and a lot of sky.

Professional Experience:
Ms. Moriarty
has worked as a studio assistant for MaryJane Artwear (Veratu, Ltd),
specializing in fabric. painting and preparation. She
makes and exhibits her own artwork (oils, charcoal, and
pastels), and has done numerous home and portrait commissions.
Artist's Statement:
"Art is freedom for me.
It’s the
place where I don’t have to conform to anyone’s desires but my own. Where I am limited only by my own
understanding, imagination and skill, which I can work on as hard as I like, as
hard as I am able. It is the place where my passion, my creativity, my
curiosity, my tenacity and my arrogance are all assets instead of liabilities."

Mama is an Artist...
Not only
with paint and pastel, but with life. She makes the lives of everyone she
touches brighter, like the vibrant colors of her work. And she gave me mine.
Each of Viola Moriarty's paintings has a life of its own. She walks down the
road in many different shoes, casting the exuberant light of her own soul on
the side of a barn, or a cheek. She invites us into her shadows, full of
human secrets.
